Earlier this year, I was totally overjoyed to be given the opportunity to guest blog at Make and Do Crew, what a dream! You can find the free pattern with step by step instructions over on the Make and Do crew site, click here to go to the blog post and I will be offering a PDF of the pattern at a very reduced rate on Ravelry soon! After looking at Lion Brand yarns, which I had never used before, I knew instantly I wanted to create something special from the beautiful Lion Brand LB Collection Merino Yak Alpaca.
The inspiration for this sweater comes from a childhood growing up in Cornwall surrounded by the chaos of lobster pots and fishing nets. When I was young my dad was a fisherman and so I jumped at the chance to combine Lion Brand Fishermen’s wool into this piece. It reminds me of the Norwegian style fishing sweaters often seen in my village but the yarn is suprizingly lightweight, this garment is definitely wearable through the seasons due to the breathable nature of the merino.
I even managed to get in a bit of beach crochet here and there whilst the kids were playing in the little pockets of sunshine we had in early spring.
The front features beginner tapestry crochet and the rest is all very simple stitches, let me know if you give it a go, I would absolutely love to see!
This sweater looks great! I might have to give this pattern a try once it gets a bit colder out.
Thank you Jenna! It’s perfect for more changeable autumn weather 💛
